From what I've read it's all planetary based... meaning no boarding and capturing of other ships.
I mean if you think about it, the best thing about being a pirate would be the whole chargy into the other shipy with weapons blazing part so you can steal their loot, and maybe claim their ship for your own use. I <3 Vexors. |

That's just not the same.
You know the part in Hope where all the stormtroopers charge onto the rebel ship? That's what Dust would really need, not just the ground warfare. I <3 Vexors. |

So the very worstest thing about a game set on the surface of a planet is that it isnt a spaceship game ???
Well...
1. Ships would give you a limited number of predefined areas to work with and would be familiar settings to FPS gamers. 2. Ships would have a realistic opportunity to add lots of cover... this is another FPS staple. 3. You could also take over PoSs and sov structures. This would mean do one side or another put all their alliance into the space battle or the takeover battle? 4. With this feature you could take over another player's capitals and titans. This would give an opportunity to switch the balance of power in a region quickly. 5. As mentioned this would add a new level to piracy. 6. PvEers could use this feature to raid NPC vessels and get loot that way. 7. Since spinning in space is the main pasttime in eve, the logical place for an FPS shooter should be directly related to spinning in space. I <3 Vexors. |

Someone doesn't know their EvElore. Besides isn't the point that they would fire a Shuttle at your ship with troops on board? It's not like you'd invite them onto your ship. They would force their way on, they walk up to your pod and BAM, your poded, while your ship is still alive. Can anyone say, Cap balance? xD
What MotherMoon said.
FYI. it's called a boarding party. What they do is blow open an entrance and start shooting at everything that moves inside.
You must never have seen a police raid, or heard about the seals raiding OBL's compound, or seen a good pirate movie, or played an FPS if you can't imagine a bunch of people, with guns, trying to forcefully gain access to a ship or a bunker or something like that. If you want to see what it'd be like, try watching say, the first 5-15 minutes of the original star wars. I <3 Vexors. |

Well, there could be a port.
And you could have your PS3 by your PC and be ready to switch over on a second's notice. Learning to use a keyboard with your toes while you are FPSing can't be that hard can it? I <3 Vexors. |

Don't forget using boarding parties to raid or capture stations.
For instance you could have a main boarding party that can capture a station you want to keep from the other guys or a small advanced raid party which could do things to weaken it... if they don't get caught. For example disable the shields or the guns. I <3 Vexors. |

Jonak wrote:The biggest disappointment with Dust is that it's a FPS. Not all of us can play them comfortably.
I love good FPSs (like borderlands, it was awesome). Playing FPSs with a controller instead of mouse and keyboard is another story. IIRC, you can hook a mouse and keyboard to the PS3. All I hear is goons this and goons that, it's like you people are the villiagers from goons village. |
